No way!

Yes way. Our house is officially on the market as of Sunday. There's still much work to be done cleaning out and organizing cupboards and closets, and the cleaning never ends. In case you haven't experienced it, selling a house sucks. Here's a link in case you're looking;)

To Make a Long Story Short

It's been over a month again, and it's actually a surprise that I'm even posting now, but I'm feeling slightly guilty. Let me give it to you quickly.

Most of you have known since December, but we are planning to move to Wisconsin this summer. We will not move until 1 of 2 conditions is met: We sell our house or I get a job. Joel will be working for my dad as a Certified Financial Representative. We're thinking that Joel may go into agency training in a couple years after learning as much from my dad as possible. To make things more financially comfortable, I'm hoping to teach there, but so far, there has only been 1 position available in the area, and that position is 20 miles away from Manitowoc.

There are a million other reasons why we decided to move, but here are the major ones. We have lived the majority of our lives in Bloomington-Normal, and quite frankly, it's time to get the heck out of Dodge. We are not content just being mediocre, living comfortably and predictably, and not taking chances. Joel doesn't want to work super hard and just get scheduled raises that barely keep up with inflation. He wants to see the fruits of his labor and be rewarded for his efforts. He wants to feel that he is making a difference in people's lives, and he has not felt that for a long time in his current job. I honestly don't think I can teach for 28 more years. I love my job and am incredibly invested and involved in my school and my students, but it's aging me. Just take a gander at my forehead wrinkles for proof:) We want to improve our quality of life. We want to have 2 more children, and I want to eventually have more time to raise them. I have always dreamed of Joel and me working together. I used to always ask Joel when we were first married, "Joel, can I take you to school with me in my pocket?" I can see myself supporting Joel and working with him in agency. Who knows - maybe I would teach again when our kids are grown. I don't know. We know at first the move will be a challenge. We need to see who we are outside of Bloomington-Normal and away from the influences that are there, positive and negative. I think leaving would give us more independence and help us to further establish our family unit. We would have to be very intentional about finding a good church and community and making friends. That is part of the reason why I'm wanting to work - I would immediately be part of a community, even if it's in a neighboring town.

Even though this information has been leaked all over the place somehow, I am not broadcasting it. I told my principal several weeks ago after I had an HR phone interview. She was so nice and supportive about it. I'm going to do a leave replacement, which means that I'm guaranteed a job in the district for which I'm qualified should I choose to return the following year. I'm not being pessimistic; I'm protecting myself. We are definitely not intending to return, but you never know how things will work. I'm not going to tell my students or staff until 1 of the 2 conditions is met.

So, we have spent the past few months getting a teaching license in Wisconsin (I am certified until 2013), creating a resume, applying for a job, getting our house ready to go on the market, buying things, de-cluttering, and trying to finish the school year.

Please keep us in your prayers - that I will get a job, that we will sell our house, and that God will bless us. I'll keep you posted with any major events!
