I just completed a self-evaluation for potential online students found at: http://www.ion.uillinois.edu/resources/tutorials/pedagogy/selfeval.asp
The survey's intent is to help a student determine if online learning is for him/her. Will it fit their lifestyles, needs, and desires? I received a 12/12 on it, meaning that online learning is perfect for my lifestyle at this time. I have access to and enjoy technology, it's not convenient for me to go to a physical classroom for class, and I enjoy the media used in online learning.
After completing the survey entitled, "Is online teaching for you," it is obvious that I would be a great candidate for online teaching. There were only a few areas of slight weakness. Sometimes it is hard for me to stick to "office hours." If you know me, you know that I'm a perfectionist, and I just like to get any work done that is hanging over my head. There were also a program that I had not heard and do not have on my computer currently (Shockwave). The results of these surveys are what I expected.

C&I 438 - Distance Learning
I had indefinitely abandoned my blog due to busyness of family, career, grad school, and church. I also wanted to live more in the here and now and not think about or worry as much about other people's lives. Also, in my limited down time, being on the computer is not my number one choice by any means. I finished my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction in January and started grad school again last week. I am starting coursework toward earning my Certificate in Librarianship. The reasons are: 1. I think I would enjoy being an IMC specialist. 2. It would make me more marketable and give me another option in education. 3. It will help me to keep climbing on the pay scale. However, I will be doing it slowly. I'll be teaching 3 high school classes next year, and at least 1 will be a new prep, so I'm not in a hurry, and I don't want to keep living in chaos. So, we'll see what I decide for the fall.
The reason I'm explaining this is that I will be posting some reflections about my class on here, so if you're wondering why, now you know.
Enjoy your summer!
