Hey Party People

WE SOLD OUR HOUSE..and in 1 week. That was my goal. We showed the house Wed night, had 4 couples come through at our open house Sat, had a new couple and a couple from Saturday come through with realtors today. The repeat couple's agent said they would be in touch. We got a phone call at 7pm that he wanted to come over and make an offer. We hurried home from Dean and Elena's (Stella stayed) and met with him. We figured our price starting at what we paid plus inflation since we've lived there and 3% commission we have to pay the realtor. They figured out their offer based on the rate of appreciation for real estate in this area (3%). Inflation is a little above that - 3. something % on average. So, we had a difference of belief essentially. He believed in the value of real estate. We believe in the value of our dollar. We countered with as low as we were willing to go, which was breaking even. They accepted but wanted us to buy them a home warranty. We said no. They called back before 10pm and accepted, the realtor came over, and we signed papers. He said we drove a hard bargain. Not really, but we would not go lower than what we calculated and felt was fair. Here are some funny small-world things about it:
1. We went to school with 2 of the realtor's kids, and his oldest daughter used to babysit Renee and me.
2. The guy that bought our house looked so familiar to me. Why? Because he was a WHOI news anchor.
3. The couple lives in the same apt. buildings we lived in, 1 building over. Weird stuff, huh?

We close 6/27/08. We'll probably move the week before, because my cousin's wedding is 6/28, and I'm probably going to LA now with my little sister 6/29-7/8, and we would be flying out of WI. We're most likely going to rent my parents' old house that they have been renting out for a couple years. They offered a great deal for rent, it's a nice-sized house, I love the neighborhood, and I've already lived there before. I'm still waiting to hear from Sheboygan, but my principal said they called her last week, so that's a good sign. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. God seems to really be answering ours. Things are falling into place:)
